Fort Myers Fishing Report 4-1-14

On April fools day the fish apparently thought it would be fun to play a prank on all the captains fishing in Estero Bay and Fort Myers!  Their prank was to come down with a case of “lockjaw”. Bait was tough and  i used shrimp on my trip. Shrimp this time of year can be hit or miss, you end up catching a lot of trash fish (catfish), but sometimes you can get quality fish to eat it. We ended up with a few Sheepshead, Jack Crevalle, catfish and two smaller Redfish. I thought that was a bad day…….. Until i saw other guides at the dock, some of whom have been doing it 20 years plus and they had the same or worse! One guide in particular did not catch a single fish on his 6 hour trip. I’m not saying this to talk bad about someone it happens to all of us, simply stating a fact and making a point, today was hard fishing! Despite the bad day and the fish having a case of lockjaw my clients went home with some fish for a fish fry. Once again we provided clients the opportunity to catch fish and have fun even on a tough day, “it’s GUARANTEED

Estero Bay Fishing Charters 3-28-14

Bait this morning was hard to find on my Estero bay fishing charters, but i did succeed in finding enough for my four hour trip in the morning. Windy conditions made it very challenging, especially when it came to boat positioning and casting abilities. They key today was finding clean water and a leeward side of an island or shoreline that allowed you to cast with the wind. The girls i fished with in the morning were fortunate enought to catch Snook, and Redfish and they even went home with some for dinner! Finding fish on a windy day can be challenging but you can be sure that when you book a trip with Calusa fishing Adventures and Captain Mark Yimin you will succeed! Fort Myers Fishing Report 3-27-14

Fishing charters this week in Fort Myers have been very good! We managed to dodge rain in the early part of the week and bait was very easy to find. Snook have made a real push as of late with the warming water temps and longer days. Use a small 2/0 circle hook and a fresh netted pilchard to entice the bite. Remember they need moving water or they don’t feed well so look for areas with that ingredient to stay successful. Along with good numbers of Snook there have been alot of BIG jacks around, thee fish are tackle busters for sure. They will definitely make your arms and reels burn. If you are looking to pull on a heavy mean fish these are the ones for you! Spring break is winding down to a close, but the fishing is just warming up. I am waiting in anticipation for the spring Tarpon run which will be in full swing shortly. They are already starting to show sporadically off the beaches. Soon my fishing charters in Fort Myers will be focused on the Silver king so stay tuned for updates on fish caught and exciting adventures.
